Raven to Nia.

"Dancing Tween" is the seventh episode in Season 1 of Raven's Home. It first aired on September 8, 2017 to 1.37 million viewers.[1]

Plot[]

Summary[]

While Booker and Tess team up to plan their 6th-grade dance, Nia worries her dancing skills aren’t good enough for the big event. Meanwhile, Raven starts to question if she’s being a good mom and goes overboard trying to volunteer for the kids’ school.[2]

Full Plot[]

The school dance is coming up. Booker and Tess are excited as they proudly take credit of everything their parents did to prepare for the dance. Nia, on the other hand, is not excited because she doesn't know how to dance.

Chelsea is volunteering to help with the dance. When the Principal blames Raven for not volunteering like Chelsea, Raven inadvertently agrees to take on the task of baking five hundred cookies. Chelsea advises against it since she knows how busy Raven is with work lately. But Raven is determined to prove a point.

As the school dance approaches, Booker gets a vision in which Tess says the dance is lame and they're the ones to blame. So, Tess and Booker come up with a plan to make it the perfect dance. They take Chelsea's binder and start going through the ideas. Unfortunately, they can't agree on a theme. Booker wants a western theme while Tess wants an old-school hip hop theme. At the end, they agree that they are cool with one of them dropping their idea and supporting the other. But - they don't choose whose idea should be dropped.

Meanwhile, Raven is feeling overworked because of all the cupcakes she has to make. Levi catches her sleepwalking and tries to help her out. After that, Levi goes to Nia's room only to find Nia all jumpy, practicing how to dance. Nia later shares her anxiety about dancing with Raven, but Raven makes her even more nervous by mentioning that she could be put on the spotlight where everyone has to see her dance. So, Nia decides to just sit aside and watch everyone dance. And Raven admits to Chelsea that she couldn't get the cupcakes done. So, Chelsea advises her to buy them from a bakery and remove the labels.

On the day of the dance, Booker sets up the scene for a western theme while Tess sets it up for a hip-hop theme. They realize that they never agreed on which idea to go with. In the frustrations, Booker's vision comes to pass where Tess says that the dance is going to be lame, and everyone is going to blame them. After seeing the mess, Chelsea threatens to cancel the dance. Tess and Booker beg her to keep it. She agrees as long as they agree to do whatever she asks them. They work on a theme that combines both of their ideas: hip hop cowboy.

The dance is great, but Nia is not dancing. Raven approaches her and encourages her to get in and have fun. Raven helps by jumping in and dancing so bad that no one pays attention to Nia's terrible dancing.
